Acoustic Wave Therapy

Not uncommon to many other life-changing inventions, Acoustic Wave Therapy for the cellulite treatment and skin tightening was discovered by accident. Creators, Storz Medical Ag, have been the world market leaders in the supply of and development of technology in the shock wave field since 1987. Their multi million dollar Lithotripsy equipment for the treatment and disintegration of kidney stones can be found in many major hospitals throughout the world.

Through continued extensive research it was discovered that the process utilizing the patented D-Actor technology could also provide excellent results in pain management for calcifications and soft tissue issues, such as: Shoulder pain, Tennis or Golfers Elbow, Patellar Tendonitis (jumpers knee), Shin pain / Tibial Stress Syndrome, Achilles tendon pain, Heel pain (Heel Spurs), Chronic neck, shoulder and back pain and Muscle tension caused by painful muscular nodules (trigger points)

The Discovery

It was during a treatment process for female athletes that the improvements in cellulite appearance were discovered by accident. A number of female athletes were undergoing treatment for torn and strained hamstrings with Acoustic Wave Therapy with the D-Actor equipment and despite the original complaint being successfully resolved the patients kept returning for further treatment, it was during these follow up sessions that it is was revealed to the practitioner that they were noticing a remarkable improvement in the appearance of cellulite and skin tightening. Obviously at this stage there was an absence of scientific proof to justify these claims only the assertion of the patients.

The doctors treating the athletes were aware that Cellulite is a significant problem for women, which affected them on many levels, including their choice of everyday clothing, beachwear, self esteem and relationships so the comments were relayed to Storz Medical who then commissioned scientific studies utilizing the patented D- Actor technology, with reportedly truly remarkable results, not only in cellulite treatment but also in skin tightening and circumference reduction. The results achieved can clearly be seen in the Before and After Cellulite Treatment Diagram and the Under Arm Skin Tightening Diagram.

Unlike many cosmetic treatments AWT cellulite treatment does not destroy any tissue, but allows the body’s natural healing process to accelerate the recovery from the multi-fold problems which are the contributing factors of Cellulite. Some clinics in the USA are reporting an impressive 98% success rate, with results lasting six to twelve months before limited maintenance sessions are required. Acoustic Wave Therapy is equally effective on Scar tissue and Stretch Marks as can be seen below. International music Celebrity Madonna was so impressed with the treatment results that she purchased her own treatment equipment.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Cellulite A cosmetic problem that can be cured with Cellulite Treatment Creams

No! When we are asked the question, what causes Cellulite, the Cellulite Medical Facts are that it is a multi-fold problem, which lies deep in the skin tissue and comprises of toughened and shortened connective tissue, diminished circulation, and enlarged fat cells protruding into the dermis, which in itself becomes thinner over time and before Acoustic Wave Therapy which penetrates to a depth of 6mm there was not an effective treatment with such a deep penetration depth and which addressed all of these problems simultaneously. Even the best Cellulite creams such as Nivea Cellulite Goodbye cannot make these claims.

Are there any Cellulite Diets or Exercises to get rid of Cellulite

Not really although the best results with Acoustic Wave Therapy are achieved when combined with a healthy diet and regular light exercise, we must ask ourselves, What Causes Cellulite? As cellulite forms in the superficial fat. All fat is not cellulite, only the part present in this superficial layer. The superficial layer is the last area to be affected by weight loss. Therefore, exercise and weight loss do not eliminate cellulite. Even women who exercise regularly and follow low-fat, nutritious diets and do not have the benefit of Acoustic Wave Therapy may still have cellulite. This makes weight management and cellulite treatment completely different issues

So exactly What is Cellulite?

There are two main skin layers of skin the outer layer (epidermis) has four sub layers. The inner layer (dermis) has two sub layers, the papillary (first) and reticular (lower) layers. The bottom layer (hypodermis) is not really part of the skin. It is a layer of connective tissue, fat cells, blood vessels, and nerves. The hypodermis is the connection between the skin and the structures under it, such as muscles.

And it is here in the Hypodermis that the real problem with Cellulite lies. Recent studies have revealed two major causes of cellulite. The first is a hardening of the connective tissue support system of fat. These are referred to as connective tissue (fibrous) septae. These are made of collagen. Over time, these septae harden and contract.

The contraction results in most of the dimpled appearance that characterizes cellulite. Additionally, the contraction leads to a blockage of the blood vessels and lymphatic. The blood vessel blockage further hardens the septae. The lymphatic blockage leads to thick, swollen appearing skin. The second major cause of cellulite is protrusion of fat cells into the lower part of the skin known as the reticular dermis This protrusion results in worsening of the dimpling

Why is it we don’t see Celebrities with Cellulite

Because any images we see in stage photo shoots are usually airbrushed to portray stars and celebrities in the best light but Cellulite is a natural process in women and Kim Kardashian Cellulite and Britney Cellulite being some of the most searched terms on the internet.

Is there a natural way of getting rid of cellulite?

No for the reasons stated above it is such a deep rooted medical problem that it requires specialised treatment.

How does Acoustic Wave Therapy compare with Other Cellulite Treatments such as Mesotherapy, Endermologie, Hypoxi, Laser Cellulite Treatments, RF Cellulite Treatments, Ultrasound Cellulite Treatments, like Ultrashape and Fat -Zap

Acoustic Wave Therapy is a completely non invasive treatment that treats the problems of Cellulite on multiple levels and that is why it is producing such impressive results and was created by Storz Medical, part of the Karl Storz group who have been supplying Doctors and Hospitals since 1945 and is a medical solution backed by over 60 years of research and development.

Mesotherapy is an invasive process whereby a solution is injected into the skin with a series of needles.

Endermologie involves vacuum roller massage and was the Gold Standard for Cellulite Treatment since it was invented around twenty years ago but science and technology have come along way since then.

Hypoxi is not strictly a treatment process that is administered by a technician but involves the client in relatively strenuous exercise.

We are not experts on these treatments but we understand that all Laser Cellulite Treatments, RF Cellulite Treatments, Ultrasound Cellulite Treatments, like Ultrashape and Fat-Zap are all heat based treatments that involve Necrosis (the death of living cells)If you are considering one of these treatments then you could simply ask the operator if any necrosis is involved.

You may also wish to ask about penetration depths as we can categorically state that Acoustic Wave Therapy has an effective depth of 6 mm whilst it is our understanding that all Laser Cellulite Treatments, RF Cellulite Treatments, Ultrasound Cellulite Treatments, like Ultrashape and Fat -Zap have effective penetration depths of around 3mm.

I have asked my local Beauty Salon How to get rid of Cellulite and they suggested a salon body wrap or detox body wrap as an effective Cellulite Treatment

Yes, body wraps such as Universal Contour Wrap and The International Body Wrap are effective cellulite treatments, which are good for short term cellulite reduction, rather than cellulite removal. They work by extracting the toxins in the skin and although toxins do not weigh anything they do take up space. In Australia and New Zealand the Universal Contour Wrap has largely been superseded by the International Body Wrap which also offers a Cellulite Home Remedy, and whilst the International Body wrap is an inch loss wrap with results lasting up to 30 days we would suggest that Acoustic Wave Therapy is simply the best cellulite treatment for long term results.

I would like to understand more about the science behind Acoustic Wave Therapy as I thought Ultrasound Waves and Shock Waves were exactly the same.

If it’s true that Shock Wave and Ultrasound belongs to the same category (at least from a physics point of view) since both are mechanical wave, they are different. When we speak about mechanical waves, two parameters are very important.

Amplitude: which gives the pressure and it’s linked to the energy which can be generated by the wave. Ultrasound has a very small amplitude, it’s a sine wave which creates micro vibration and may generate an heating effect which has a temporary effect on fat and water, but as we know the re-intake of water will negate this effect to some degree.

Meanwhile Shock Waves they have a very high amplitude and don’t generate any heating effect

Frequency: it’s defined in Hz (cycles / sec) and in this case, Ultrasound has a very high frequency (we speak in MHz, millions of cycles per second). Shock Wave has a very low frequency, measured in only a few Hz. Similarly Radio Frequency doesn’t belong to the mechanical wave field but to the high frequency range which produce an electromagnetic field. The main action is the heating effect that they may generate and again produce a heating effect with short term results.
